Both Mark Webber (Formula 1) and Daniel Ricciardo (Formula Renault 3.5) have topped the timing charts on the first day of this weeks tests in Barcelona and Motorland Aragon respectively.
Webber ran a total of 97 laps and set a best time of 1m22.544s in a single lap run, presumably on the soft compound tyres and a low fuel level. The Red Bull seems to be showing early reliability and speed in the last week of testing before the season starts in Melbourne at the end of the month. Button was next fastest in the McLaren, trailing Webber by 0.366s. The Ferrari, Mercedes, Williams and HRT teams opted not to run on Tuesday, but are all scheduled to run on Wednesday. Regardless, Webber's best time was fastest than any of the times set at the previous Barcelona test in February.
Ricciardo ran a total of 38 laps over the day and set a best time of 1m42.048s, just 0.07s clear of Davide Rigon who completed 79 laps. Ricciardo's running was limited by some setup issues but clearly has the car sufficiently sorted.
